Welcome to Brushed by Jude — named for me, Judy Groenendyk. I started this business in 2017 due to an abundance of love for restoring furniture.
I love stripping it back, refinishing it, applying fresh paint, and seeing it restored to its former glory.
What once was viewed as dated or old-fashioned is transformed to have a whole new life ahead of it with many years of use to give.
After years of restoring pieces for personal use and for friends and family,
it’s thrilling to now be able to offer furniture refurbishment to the Oskaloosa and southeast Iowa area.

Introducing Rhion’s Rockboxes!!! I’m so excited to have Rhion join the Artisan Niche within Brushed by jude! These are a modern take on portability along with Bluetooth technology and creativity hooked up in a vintage way! It all started with Rhion’s great love for music, and then wanting something unusual, custom and unique compared to any mass produced speaker system offered today. And lastly the repurposing aspect, less sent to the landfills! In addition to vintage suitcases, Rhion can re-use bookshelf/floor speakers that still work and sound great transferred into these stylish “one of a kind” units! When purging, send your old speakers and vintage suitcases Rhion’s way for. Custom orders are welcome!
Brushed by Jude offers custom furniture restoration services. You’ll bring your item to our workshop in Oskaloosa, and Judy will take care of the rest with a refurbishment based on your vision. While Judy specializes in mid-century modern furniture, she is well-versed in a variety of design styles and is always looking to add new looks to her repertoire. Her pieces commonly include farmhouse and rustic styles, and she’s recently been experimenting with boho pieces.
